La Chamba earthenware pottery is hand-crafted according to traditional methods using local clays. The name derives from the only village in which this pottery is produced, situated along the Magdalena River in central Colombia. Practical and elegant, La Chamba pottery is suitable for serving or cooking and can be used in the oven and microwave, as well as over open flame. The dark color of the pottery is due to the smoking process. No glaze layer is applied; rather they are painstakingly burnished by hand with stones. Please note that when heat is applied, the bottom surface may change color to the original red clay.
